Medical Profiler & Matcher

The MED-Matcher, based on the ai-one™ and Topic-Mapper™ technology solution provides profiling and matching functionalities for a new medical web platform, sponsored by Swiss CTI technology financing program.

The project will develop an interactive, web-based platform that provides patients with ongoing assis-tance and encouragement for dealing with problems such as alcohol dependency and work-related disorders, especially those related to office work (e.g. stress, eye strain, repetitive strain injury or RSI). The focus is on long-term behaviour change. This will be realised through features and modules such as on-line assessment, disease-specific information, personalised monitoring and feedback as well as social and emotional support via virtual communities. An administration unit will facilitate the maintenance and personalisation of the different modules. The inclusion of new fields of application and/or target groups is made possible by the open architecture of the platform.

The reasoning behind the project can be summarised as follows:

Support and education for self-care  for compliance with therapy and long-term behavioural change. This support is on the whole not provided by our health system. Self-care tools and online interventions can provide useful assistance. Using ICT for supporting personalized monitoring and information access.

The goal is to provide the technical and organizational base for effective self-care of patients with work-related disorders and alcoholism. The system will be built modularly, so it can be extended to other illnesses and health problems. This is a project under the lead of the FHSG.
